AUNG SAN SUU KYI
Social Justice Portfolio
Social justice to me is to have a right to equal treatment and support for human rights no matter the social status. To be treated fairly and equally without prejudiceness of ethnic origin, gender, possessions, race, religion etc... Having opportunities, and privileges free from discrimination within a society.
Someone who fought for human rights was Aung San Suu Kyi she has an occupation as an Activist and is now a Burmese social democratic stateswoman, politician, diplomat and author who serves as the First and incumbent State Counsellor and Leader of the National League for Democracy.
Aung San Suu Kyi was born on June 19, 1945 (71) in Yangon, Myanmar, a country traditionally known as Burma. She was named after her farther, formerly the de facto prime minister of British Burma, who was assassination On 19 July 1947. Her mother Khin Kyi, was appointed ambassador to India in 1960. After attending high school in India, Suu Kyi studied philosophy, politics and economics at the University of Oxford, where she received a B.A. in 1967. During that time she met Michael Aris, a scholar in Bhutanese studies, whom she married in 1972. They had two children—Alexander and Kim—and the family spent the 1970s and '80s in England, the United States and India.
However, in 1988, Suu Kyi returned to Burma to care for her dying mother, and her life took a dramatic turn.
Myanmar's democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi, freed from seven years of house arrest, told thousands of wildly cheering supporters Sunday that she would continue to fight for human rights and the rule of law in the military-ruled nation
